Phew. Back home from a thrilling couple of days in Wolverhampton with t'family, and slowly catching up on comments/feedback (i.e. leaving some. Very late. Mea culpa). Got to ferret through all the old family photos (am doing a compilation card for my dad's 50th), and I found a couple from when my aunt took sibs & myself on the Granada Studios tour years ago! Annoyingly, none of me (hand-to-forehead, ah me ;-)), but a couple of my sister and brother on The Very Baker Street, so you'll just have to take my word for it that I was also one of thousands who Have Trod The Hallowed Cobbles outside 221B.

Back to work tomorrow. I'm not even thinking about the chaos which awaits me there. :-P

To further this aim, herewith some snippets of a personally heartening nature, aka Good News...

 - First attempt, and one of my icons was the mod's choice in [info]britcomicontest! W00t.

 - I finally found a decent file-ripper for the DVDs, so I can pop NAVA, etc. up on YouTube this weekend, and also plan the next couple of Holmes slashvids <rubs hands together and cackles evilly, then strokes cat whilst smirking with intent> Yes, it cost me some money. :-P Yes, it's as slow as hell. But (and this is the major redeeming feature) it WORKS, damnit, and not only produces stuff at excellent resolution, but converts to .avi while it rips. With sound. Luddite self is officially in love.

 - Friend's girlfriend's birthday tomorrow night, so we are embarking upon a gay pub-/bar-crawl round the town. Theme is uniforms. I am currently torn between the 1944 RAF jacket, the Irish Guards Zulu-esque redcoat with French canvas breeches and black cavalry boots (yep, it's an anachronistic mess, but it looks great), or the original 1952 Civil Defence Corps battledress jacket and trousers I found for a ridiculously cheap price in a charity shop before Christmas. And got the original armband and little badge off eBay, too. Hmm. Antique CDC for teh win, I feel (if only because I get to wear the Captain Jack Harkness-style braces underneath).

 - We had snow a few days ago!...

...for about twenty minutes. :-P

 - And I'm home and can see Mr. Wolfie again, yay! :-D

At least you *know* how to make music videos!
I have plenty of ideas but no idea how to take stuff from a DVD etc.

Though even if I could, I know I would lose patience and give up after three seconds X)

Our snow is slowly disappearing :( It certainly doesn't feel like February. It should be -15 at least in stead of both sides of zero constantly!!

Do you have Windows Movie Maker (that's what I use)?

If so, I could email you the avi files, or tell you how to rip off YouTube, etc. for free.

Oh noes re your snow! Guess that's global warming for you. (I want more snow. Now.)

Thanks for the offer but I have decided that all the education in these sort of things must be in Finnish for me otherwise my head will explode (which happens quite easily, having the worst nerves ever in this sort of things) xD

Besides my next goal is to make my own Sherlock Holmes homepage! (Which I also can't do and have no idea how to!) And maybe even actually be mentioned on the elusive Lyra's Slash link list because of it. :P (:sniff: you're mentioned there, and I'm not *wipes imaginary tear* :DD)

No worries. But just shout if you ever need a ripped file mailed to you. :-D

Afraid I know nothing about website construction - could you make one public LJ post with an index to your H/W work with links to the pages on DA, etc.?

You could always email Lyra and request it - there's that bit at the bottom of the slash links list where she says "It is my intention to update this page continually with works of possible interest to Holmes/Watson fans. If you know of something that belongs here [...] please email the web mistress."

I have no idea how mine ended up there (not that I'm complaining, of course), given my...ah, somewhat minimal output (plans/drafts/sketches = many, confidence to post = nil :-P).

I have so much stuff everywhre that keeping an index seems rater bothersome. I'd rather have a real website.

But hooray!
I may have just hired [livejournal.com profile] johannadeen to build websites for my Holmesies and DWIM :D *avoids head explosion* But I still have to learn how to update them....

I may link these to her when they're ready and hope she'll have'em -.-

Congrats on the mod's choice! I'm envious of your uniform-things. I have a uniform jacket from 1943 that used to belong to my super hardcore great uncle. Which makes me slightly cool?

I think you had more snow than we've had lately. Oslo sucks.

Which makes you *very* cool! [dribbles a bit over the very idea of '43 gear] Is it Army? Navy? Air Force? Want to know!

Snow all gone. Very sad. :-( [I bet Oslo gets more snow year-round than Leicester, so just stop complaining *right now*, missy. ;-) )

[Edited for typo 'cause I've just rolled back home rather pissed from jolly night out. :-D]

I don't know what it is. Some sort of Heimevern. It's greenish brown and lovely, but not very fancy. I'm not sure why he would have one, he was supposed to be all secret. Once his entire family had to run from a birthday party (all the women in high heels) and hide in the forest so they wouldn't get caught.

We don't get that much snow, actually, we're right in the groin of the Oslo fjord. xD But more than you. I'm trying to find out how many miles north of Orkney we are.

SNOW! *jealous*

All gone, sorry.

I didn't even get to go out and stamp around in it a bit. Woe is me.
